We understand that receiving a notice about a policy cancellation can be frustrating, especially after filing claims. It's important to note that insurance companies periodically review policies to ensure they align with the overall risk and claims history. You have had a higher than average number of claims in a five year period. Our underwriting department reviews individual risk and makes a business decision on that risk which we communicate. As soon as our office received the decision by our underwriting department to no longer renew your policy, we reached out to provide you with your options as soon as we were alerted. Commercial policies are subject to insurance audits. Their premiums are estimates based on the payroll estimated for the next year. Regardless of insurance company, these policies are subject to an annual audit to report the actual payroll from the previous year to be sure that premium was priced to risk. Our agency reaches out proactively to explain the annual audit process as well as how to complete it. If the audit reveals that your business operations or revenue have changed since your policy was initially issued, it may result in an adjustment to your premium. This adjustment can sometimes lead to a balance due if the new assessment indicates that the original premium did not fully cover the risk. We enjoyed working with you and hope to provide the very best in service not just when things go right, but also when they go wrong. While underwriting and audit decisions are out of our hands, it is our process to communicate your options to you."
